Griffith Park Half Marathon 2025

My fourth running of the Griffith Park Half Marathon.

I found out about this race four years ago, and I was nervous about running this race for several reasons.

It has a lot of uphill…the course runs up the hills on the Northeast side of Griffith Park.

It is a smaller race, and I’m always worried about making sure there are aid stations, especially for a longer race.

But this has turned out to be a really enjoyable half marathon, especially for training for the LA Marathon in March. I do not try to get a fast time on this race because the uphills and dowhills are working a lot of different muscle groups. Plus it’s all trail running, so that has a different feel. It can be more cushiony, but it also means I have to be mindful of my stride and navigating the path, potholes, rocks, puddles, etc. This makes for a fun run, but I’m definitely not going to be doing a PR.

Last year it was really muddy and even raining that morning, this was the first year in 3 years that rain was not affecting the course, and it turned out to be a really beautiful morning.
